Kids Don't Always Have the Words. Adults Don't Always Have the Answers. That's Where I Come In.
When your child is struggling, and you’re not sure what to do, it can feel like you’re watching from the outside, wanting to help but not knowing how.
And if you’re an adult who’s been dealing with low confidence, self-doubt, or people-pleasing for as long as you can remember, you might not even know where to start.
I’m Maddy Clines, a therapist at MK Counseling Services in Pittsburgh. I work with children, teens, and adults, helping them build real confidence, stronger boundaries, and the tools to actually handle what life throws at them. My approach is warm, relaxed, and practical. And yes, there’s room for humor.
Who I Work With
Who I See
My clients come from different places, but most of them are carrying something they’ve been trying to manage on their own for too long.
Children and Teens
I work with children under 12, teenagers, and young adults dealing with:
- Anxiety, worry, and fear that’s getting in the way of daily life
- Mood changes, withdrawal, or behavioral shifts that feel out of character
- School stress, social struggles, or difficulty with transitions
- Low self-esteem and confidence challenges
- ADHD: building practical tools for focus and self-regulation
Adults
I also work with adults navigating:
- Self-esteem and confidence that’s held them back for years
- People-pleasing and boundary challenges
- Anxiety that keeps them second-guessing everything
- Life transitions: figuring out who you are on the other side of change
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. What works for a 7-year-old is different from what works for a 35-year-old, and I adjust accordingly.
For children under 12, I use play therapy: a natural, age-appropriate way for kids to process what they’re going through without needing the words for it. Play is how children communicate. Sessions feel less like therapy and more like a safe space to be themselves.
For teens and adults, I draw from CBT to challenge the thought patterns driving anxiety, self-doubt, and avoidance. I use mindfulness to build present-moment awareness, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help clients stop fighting their thoughts and start moving toward what actually matters to them.
Clients leave my sessions with real tools, not just insight. Every session has a direction and something you can actually use.
